Nightwater Updates
From the first playtest to a dated Steam launch — what Studio Ashty has actually posted.
Nightwater is still an upcoming Steam release. This hub collects dated posts so the rest of the wiki does not invent a live-ops calendar. Child pages:
- Release date — 18 September 2026, 08:00 PDT, time zones, wishlist.
- Demo news — 8 May 2026 demo, Next Fest, what is in the build.
- News timeline — playtest, publisher deal, trailer, remaining unknowns.
If you want how to play, leave this hub and open Getting Started. If you want the store link, use official links.
Status in one paragraph
Studio Ashty (Amar Civic, Sarajevo) announced Nightwater in January 2026 with a trailer. A public playtest ran in early March and ended 9 March 2026. The demo launched 8 May 2026 and was featured in Steam Next Fest, 15–22 June 2026. Irox Games (Munich) joined as publisher in June. The dated launch is 18 September 2026. The game is single-player. A demo is playable now; the full client is not.
Why this wiki dates posts
Factory games change costs. Playtest notes already promised cheaper permanent upgrades, clearer tutorials, and inputs on all boxes. A YouTube clip from March can be wrong in September. When we cite a mechanic, we try to say whether it is demo-current or announcement-level (20+ resources, 60+ buildings, five minigames, four endings).
What “upcoming” means for wording
You will not see this wiki claim the full game is already on store shelves. The demo is live. The 1.0 build unlocks on the dated morning. After that morning, this hub should flip to patch notes. Until then, treat every industrial-era screenshot as a promise.
How to follow along without us
Steam news hub for app 3983860, Discord, Amar Civic on X, and the Bluesky account listed on links. This fan wiki is slower than Discord and faster than waiting for a banner ad.
Related reading: demo guide for contents, review for whether the current build is enough, system requirements if you are installing today.
How to read a Nightwater news post
Studio Ashty writes short Steam posts. They are better than Discord rumors and worse than a full patch bible. When a post lists Woods, Dark Thicket, and a Mountains peek, that is a contents note — send it to the demo guide. When a post lists cheaper upgrades and box inputs, that is a systems note — send it to automation and buildings. When a post lists 08:00 PDT, that is a clock note — it belongs on release date.
Do not flatten those three kinds of news into one “update dropped” headline. Incremental games live and die on whether a cost changed. This hub exists so the rest of the wiki can stay dated instead of sounding like a trailer from January.
